Foam Sclerotherapy

Foam sclerotherapy is a treatment method that involves injecting a special chemical substance into varicose veins to cause them to close. It is primarily preferred for treating small to medium-sized varicose veins. The special medication used in this method is administered in foam form inside the vein, which allows for better distribution along the vein walls and leads to more effective results.

Advantages:

  • It is a non-surgical method.

  • The procedure duration is short (15–30 minutes).

  • It allows for a quick return to daily activities.

  • It does not require anesthesia.

  • Side effects are minimal, and post-procedure comfort is high.

How Is It Performed?

A special medication is mixed with air or another gas to create foam, which is then injected into the varicose vein. The foam adheres to the inner lining of the vein, causing it to shrink and gradually disappear. After the procedure, patients are encouraged to walk, and vein visibility typically decreases within a few weeks. The disappearance of varicose veins following foam therapy may take several weeks, and in some cases, additional sessions may be necessary. Wearing compression stockings for a few days after the treatment is recommended.
